5 September 2018, Ios island, Cyclades, Greece
I feel so lucky to be sitting here on my little balcony overlooking the port of Ios with a slightly cool morning breeze brushing against my skin. We’ve been planning this month-long stay for a while, but it still feels a little surreal to be here. I’m having one of those am-I-really-here kind of moments. And it’s not unpleasant at all.
Stepping out of the everyday routine of life always allows me to come back to the essence of things … mostly myself. I think it just gives me time to reflect, which is a precious gift. So I think about how my life is in alignment with my values and where there are gaps. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been focussing on how to live my life in a way that’s true to me. It sounds kind of cliched, I understand, but is there any other way to live authentically? So this reflection time allows me to think about my values and whether they still fit (they do change a little over time, at least in their order of priority). My values in order (at this point in time :)) are: 1. Exploration and growth – learning, expanding, experiencing, sensing and moving towards and over my horizon of possibilities. 2. Creativity and meaningful work – writing, sharing my knowledge and skills, being in integrity, illumination. 3. Prosperity and security – this is all about having the freedom to CHOOSE for me. 4. Pleasure – beauty in my surroundings, being in nature, time with family and friends, laughter, singing, dancing, music, walking. 5. Health – vitality, energy, radiance. Filling my own cup, so all the other areas of my life can be fully supported. 6. Wisdom – moving in the direction of source.
We’re all so different, and I love nothing more than connecting with others and hearing what drives them and what they need to fill their own cup.
The abundance I feel at this moment will light the rest of my day, I know. And I’m grateful for it.
